We took the kids to visit the Military Museum in the Candelaria because we thought the boys would enjoy it. They did---BUT it ended up being really sad, and Jubal and Nicolas were pretty upset by it.
They, of course, loved all the guns and weapons and military vehicles. Coast guard. That's a heavily armed boat.
The part that made them sad was this exhibit about land mines. The suit above was to disarm landmines.
And then they had examples of how land mine victims carved themselves prosthetic limbs. I think the boys eyes were saucers at this.
Examples of different landmines.
And how they go about reclaiming an area.
We read them this, and poor Jubal started to cry. For all his bulster, he has a soft heart.
Also an explosive disarming device.
Jubal loved this though!
Yeah, I only I was interested in the clothing.
The spear/pike was used during the Colombian revolution.
I love the old buildings in the Candelaria.
Jubal want'd photos by all the modern uniforms.
A legit gun in a briefcase.
This was another sad one. It was when a car loaded with bombs was driven into the Colombian equivalent of the Pentagon.
This picture was in the building.
This is the most photos I have of Jubal of any trip we took.
Funky old guns.
The nativity scene set up on the steps for Christmas.
The other really sad part for everyone was the exhibit about the modern conflict in Colombia. It had a screen listing the soldiers's names and photos of ones who had died.
More random objects.
