Sebastian's Birthday

When you have boys, you have black widow spider cakes.  Also, Sebastian LOVES blueberries, so I thought the eyes were perfect.

And Sebastian wanted more carnivorous plants, and so that is what he got.  He was pretty excited about that, as you can see. He also chose delicious steak for his birthday dinner along with hasbrowns and eggs and grapes.  It was a very good choice.

Sledding and snowmobiling with Megan's Family

Megan invited us up to her place in Idaho to go sledding and snowmobiling.  Only it was the day of the kids' Valentine's parties so it took 40 minutes to pick up the kids from the elementary school so we were running so late.  Then some of them hadn't had lunch, so we ate, and then Jubal had left his snow boots at the elementary school so we had to stop back there to pick them up.  And basically what had been a beautiful blue skied day had turned cold and nasty by the time we got to Megan's.  And then we realized Jubal had left his snow pants at the school too.  Errr.  Anyway I was super grumpy and mad, and then the very first time we went down the hill, I got on with Efraim, only I knelt on the sled and then I couldn't balance it very well and we crashed and Efraim's face got ice rash, and Devaney and Sebastian ran into me before I even lifted my head from wiping out.  Sebastian was so sweet, I could tell he was super worried, and immediately asked if I was alright, but I was kind of staggering off to get Efraim who was bleeding and stuck in the snow further down the hill.  So then Jared gave us a ride right back to their cabin, where I stayed with Efraim and then Jubal the rest of the time.  And the impact of Sebastian and Devaney was fully taken by my elbow and it still hurts now two and half weeks later so I think I might go to the doctor.  Anyway, I was really upset because I had been so looking forward to going and trying snowmobiling and sledding and then I was just furious at everyone because no one (including a cute Colombian) knows how to get it together and go fast to get ready!  I'm still mad, but mostly because I was trying to get them to bed just now and they were still goofing around an hour later, and Isabel came out asking me about her homework and Sebastian was crying because I only bought him pajama pants and not a pajama set because heaven forbid he wear a t-shirt to bed.  He even said, "I don't want to live in a family where I don't have a pajama shirt!"  Which is hilarious, but I'm still fuming so not as funny.  Sorry for the rant.  But it was beautiful, and the drive home we played soundtracks and we all took turns making up stories to go along with the music, so it all ended on a good note.
