2023 Día de las Brujas Parties at Church and School

Dia de las Brujas party with our barrio (church ward). Super fun! I've never heard so much Shakira at a ward party before.

A hoodie of the Miles Morales Spiderman was all I could talk Sebastian into. He was supposed to have spidey gloves too, but Amazon didn't come through for us.

That's just a sad piñata, and if I remember right, Jubal hit it once and broke it to pieces.  Oops.  But anyway, everyone had fun!  We didn't go trick-o-treating because usually people go in their apartment complexes, but that doesn't work for us.

Elena was awesome and took photos for me of the kids at school.

October Things

Oct 19: It's been a long week.  Our water was turned off yesterday for 24 hrs (construction somewhere?), which was a great excuse to go to Crepes and Waffles, but pretty stinky.  Then our cell phone stopped working and I walked a long way to a store to buy a new one only to have their card reader broken and the transfer of money through 3 different banks slows things down so no money in the ATM for me to withdraw to pay that way.  

I had to walk back today but  ¡yay! I have a working cell again.   And then I went to another big supermarket today (think Target) and for some reason I couldn't understand, they couldn't take VISA cards today.  So another wasted trip.  Not to mention Leo's hours and hours spent trying to get our travel visas all sorted out on Tuesday.  Anyway here's hoping the weekend es bueno.

The kids had to ride the bus for an hour to and from school, even though the school is only 15 mins away. Mostly they slept but occasionally Elena took photos.

Efraim wanted to be a squid for Halloween.

I took a 8 week course of Spanish for 4 hours a day.  It was good but by the end, my brain just felt fried and I felt like the last two weeks were kind of a waste because of that.  But it was super fun meeting people from all over the world.  

Poor Elena.
