I attended the BYU Family History Conference. It was fabulous! (Why did I go to school to be a nurse, and not a genealogist? Why? Why?) Here's a few highlights:
- I met two authors of books I've read. Sweet. George Ryskamp is specialist on Latin American and Spanish genealogy (I got his book at the DI after it being on my Amazon wishlist for months. Even Sweeter.) The other lady was Barbara Renick. She was my favorite presenter, and I changed around my plans to attend more of her lectures. She wrote Genealogy 101, a very good beginner's guide for anyone interested.
- I was the youngest person there by at least ten years (minus 2 TAs that were there one day), and on average, I was probably 30 yrs younger than everyone else.
- My mom and sister-in-law Lindsay are fantastic for watching my kids. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
- The plans the church has for the new Family Search, are amazing. Think Facebook and Wikipedia combined.
And with that, adieu, because I should be folding clothes, studing Spanish, finishing a few things for YW's, finishing another project I have yet to start--errr..., exercising, or going to bed. I think tonight I'll choose going to bed. Although I completely understand why a few of the family history computer programs have "alarm clocks," all I want to do is update all my family history files on Leo's family. Ruff. Sleep is so inconvenient.
