Deadwood was supposed to be just a quick stop so we could watch the "shoot out" on Main Street. But we missed the first or they cancelled it, or maybe there is only one in the afternoon. So we went a brief walk and then checked out a museum to try to get out of the rain.
Awww....
The museum was meh. I mean they had this dress, which is OBVIOUSLY from the 1910s labeled as being from the 1870s. That seriously makes me question everything there.
There were a lot of crazy, shady people in Deadwood back in the day though. Some crazy stories there.
The kids LOVED this sand thingy though. You could make different elevations and oceans and lakes. Pretty cool. We also some big old chunks of gold ore. I never knew it was mined like that. The mining part was kind of interesting as far as mining could be.
And then the shoot out was cancelled due to rain, when we had only stuck around for that. Lame. Wild Bill Hickok, you let us down. The kids were so mad at me, because I was supposed to magically know a head of time that that would happen. Anyway, there was much weeping and gnashing of teeth.
So then we drove to North Dakota and a new campsite at Buffalo Gap. It was raining off and on, and more rain in the forecast, so the campground host let us set up our tents under the pavilion.
I love Jubal.
North Dakota sky, I'd almost move back just for that.
Okay, I realize this is way too many cloud pictures, but too bad.
Cozy little camping spot.
