Elena's dress

Last week I made a new dress for Elena.  It was really quick and easy....until I decided to add embroidery to it.  Then it slowed down, a lot.  Anyway, I really loved it, until she put it on.  I really didn't expect to have fitting issues because it's a vintage 1950's pattern, and I always heard they run small, which I thought would be perfect for Elena.  Only on this dress, the dress fits fine, but the "fitted" weskit (vest) is huge through the back and shoulders.  Errr.....
And you can kind of see on this picture how big it is through the shoulders on the vest, and also the irksome issue of it not quite meeting the top of her skirt.  Seriously, this was not my sewing mistake, my sewing was precise (well, except for the pintucks on one side).

Close up of the embroidery and pintucks and box pleat.  I bought this material for 50 cents at a garage sale and barely had enough to cut out the dress.  In fact the bodice was supposed to be cut as a single piece and I couldn't fit it, so there's a seam in the center of the box pleat.  Oh well.  There's also needs to be another button on the vest, but unfortunately Joann's isn't open 24/7, so I didn't have a chance to go buy the last button, (these ones were in my stash).

Anyway, Elena loves it.  So that's good.

Looks awesome, and your embroidery is AMAZING---so the whole project was worth it just for that. Yup.
